Comments on routeplan for Thailand
I would just give some further informations on the route plan. We are landing in Bangkok the 1th may, and we are planning on using some days there exploring markets, nightlife, temples and trying out some streetfood. From Bangkok we have decided to go on some daytrips to see maybe the famous Damnoen Saduak floating market, the maeklong train market (also known as the worlds most dangerous market), and the ancient ruins of Auytthaya.
Search for Robinson Crusoe!
After this we're going further east in search of nice islands with bountybeaches. That means we're hitting up some islands in the Gulf of Thailand called Koh Chang, Koh Maak, Koh Kut/Kood and Koh Wai. They should be relatively isolated compared to the Islands on Thailands west coast, so we didn't put these islands in our initiary because the rain season apparently hits harder at the west coast than the east coast.
Heading south, its getting hot
After the islands (Koh Chang & co.) we will backpack our royal way down to the islands (islands is goood) of Koh Phangan, Koh Samui and Koh Tao. I'm not yet sure which islands we will chose, but my impression is that Koh Phangan is the party island, Koh Tao is the divers island, and Koh Samui should be very touristy. But when we're around here it would be interesting to do some exploring at the Ang Thong Marine Park.
Well but we have to get down to these islands some way and we prefer travelling by bus or train. On our way we would like to taste the buffet of Thailands nature (national parks).
We're thinking of seeing Kanchanaburi, Kaeng Krachan, Khao Sok or Khao Yai national park.
After this our genious minds has figured that it would not only be sad but almost retarded not to visit the huge, enormous, hair-raising colossal, mindblowing gigantic ruins of Angkor. It's an old complex of temples which monks used to live in, and did i mention they are HUGE? Anyway, it's placed in Cambodia near/in a place called Siem Reap. We use some days there before getting back into Thailand and getting 15 days more of Visa. By this time we're probably saying goodbye to our beloved crewmember Frumse, unless of course he decides to ditch his life and futureplans and stay with us :).
Kasper and I then have a surprise for you, we're going north up to Chiang Mai to dig further down the Thai hole.
Cheers
